GU Running gear into GQ

Post by stuckwithlux »

Hey all,

I'm looking at purchasing a wrecked 05 GU ute and swapping all the running gear over into my 89 SWB mav.

My Mav is a TB42 dual fuel and the ute is TD42 intercooled turbo diesel.

Is it pretty straight forward, swapping the whole driveline, front diff and steering box over?

Does the front diff housing bolt straight in or do I need to Fab up some new mounts?

I figure I'll need to modify the chassis for the steering box to bolt on and I've read the article on converting over to a turbo diesel so that looks ok.

I'm just after a bit of a heads up on some of the other things. Like making sure the speedo will still work with the new gear box etc...

Any advice would be appreciated..

Cheers,
Jords.

should all bolt together, even the steering box! you will how ever need the gu steering arm if u use the gu box, or buy an aftermarket item where you can change the tie rod end, cos it faces in the wrong direction. apart from that you should be sweet
