bonnet spacing a 1.6efi
bonnet spacing a 1.6efi
i am going to be removing my 2inch bodylift in my zook. the motor is going to hit the bonnet,
i nerd some people space the bonnet up but i cant see how they did this and never see any pics.
i was also thinking of cutting a hole out to fit the motor and then putting an air scoop over it, or make it inclosed
air scoop might attract unwanted attention (P plater)
pic of what people did would be great thanks

Just be aware that bonnets that are not recessed into the stock location may have a habit of snapping bolts and make a direct line for your head in a head on collision ala guillotine style.
I would fab a bonnet "bump" ford XR8 style before spacing a bonnet upwards. OR, drop the engine. If you are SPOA you should have heaps of room.

that what i was thinking. but i dont know if i should to the whole bonnet or just the section. and also would probably need to be repained after. would be a great project for me to do and will keep me busy./spamwell wrote:i vote for bonnet bump
zooks already have a bulge. i was thinking of cutting the center of the bulge sides out and putting in some steel and weld on

yer fiberglass would be cool but not as easyly fixed as steel?nicbeer wrote:yeh bulge it on the standard bulge and maybe angle it a bit more to suit.
think someone on maybe auszookers? was making fibreglass bonnets
the bonnet would be made of 1.6mm steel would it? does anyone know aprox how much it would cost to respray the bonnet? or if you can get the colour code in spray can

i think it would probably be better and probably easyer to lower the engine. but i just wouldnt know what to do because i didnt fit the 1.6 into it. and i dont realy want to pull the engine out.
was looking on ebay and found this. that would be a good deal as my gearbox is on it way out soon and rather then rebuild i will just get another 2nd hand one. come with the adaptor plate so its a direct bolt on. has anyone used this and will i still need a bodylift?
