MacManara Diffs
Hi, does anyone know anything about Jack Mac diffs as i have some for a landrover based vehicle im building (A d-lander) but wish to change the R&P - i gather they are not rover parts so could do with some help in knowing what parts i need to get....
They use a toyota 8"/200mm low pinion R&P.smo wrote:Thanks for all your help so far, so i need to obtain toyota R&P....
Do they come in different sizes or are they all the same and i can just select the ratio i require?
e.g.: http://www.ringpinion.com/PartsList.asp ... fferential

Sorry if this is a waste of time but they have some information on their website, also if you email jeff he is very helpful.
Here is the website:
http://www.mcnamaradiffs.com.au/products.html
Generally when you order a diff from them they just ask you what ratio you would like and make it up for you.

I cant say i find the website overly helpful, text says one thing and pics show what is seemingly another and they lack technical details too.
I did get an initial reply from JM however i have not had a reply to my followup....3 weeks and counting :(
Seriously considering flogging them off and going the "standard" ashcroft & ARB route for my axles.

Then you would have inferior diffs.smo wrote:I cant say i find the website overly helpful, text says one thing and pics show what is seemingly another and they lack technical details too.

ARB are not as good and no rover ring and pinion aren't anywhere near as strong. Good range of toyota and aftermarket ring and pinion ratios available as well.
Axles (half shafts) are larger, stronger than rover 24 spline. And Longfield cv's stronger than Ashcroft.
The ring gear and pinion are toyota hilux - you don't need to get these from jacmac.
John
You can get 3.54 CW/P sets.....
http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog ... gears.html
3.54HP may be the hard part.

Damien,
I don't know of any reverse cut R&P in the ratios you want.
The jacmac hypoid units are not high pinion - they list
I would try the toyota truck and 4runner forum on pirate for information.

Superior make R&P for toys but don't list anything on their web site that I could find.3.42,3.54, 3.72, 3.9, 4.1, 4.3, 4.375, 4.56, 4.71, 4.875, 5.28 & 5.71 being readily available world-wide

Jacmac sell their bare housing for around $650 (last I asked). That will let you run low pinion 3.42s or 3.54s F&R.6.5 rangie wrote:What bigger than 35's, ideally i need either 3.54's with the lt95 or 4.11 and .7something overdrive to make it ok
