You can get away without a gear stick mod. All I did with mine was cut the rear of the shifter hole out abit. Then just moved the whole lot rearwards 10mm. Now there is no restriction on either shifters movment (carpet hasnt gone back in yet). Also with a 50mm BL the gearstick is still a good length, and the x-fer case stick just means the stubby holder want stay on it very well now that it is shorter
think seriously about why you want to do the bodylift, and if you shoud. It doesn't really acheive much, especially if you are doing it for tyre clearance reasons, much easier and neater and more sensible to just trim panels a bit instead. once it is in, it is a bitch to take back out. I have just taken a bodylift out of my truck, it is a bastard of a job...

I think a body lift achieves quite a bit - especially when purely used for fitting larger tyres. It is a conservative way to add extra clearance without chopping the guards and painting. It is totally reversible, as opposed to guard cutting, although it does have its advantages, conservative people would not even think of cutting up their rig. this way, the rig can still look quite standard, retaining the factory flares and plastic inner wheel arch shrouds. (trimming the arches would remove the tabs to refit the factory flares etc)
For extra info on bodylifts, check out the FAQs in the general tech section on this site.
Built, not bought.

I agree on the thinking about it....
What were the issues in taking it back out? why so much of a vagina?
mine had the works - extended shifters, lowered radiator, custom barwork ,etc.. a lot of stuff to un-customise.
