My central locking will only work when I use the key in the passengers door and not in the drivers door (lock). If I use it in the drivers door it just locks that door only.
If I use it in the passenger side lock (from outside/as per normal) then everything works as it should !

What's going on? Anybody have an idea?

Sounds like the microswitch on the driver's door isn't working? (The key would operate a switch when you turn it and that sends a signal to the central locking to lock all the doors.)

The switch may or may not be built into the door locking solenoid (normally they're called "master solenoids" if they have the switches built into them or "slave solenoids" if they don't have the switch.)

hi thanks for that, so if they are in the door is that in the lock itself or do I have to take the door panel off? not that I know what I'm looking for anyway !
Do you know what they look like and maybe cost? I'm just trying to figure out if its me worth still going around to the passenger side door or not. Even thou it looks odd

I take it the system is from the factory and not aftermarket?

At a minimum you'll need to take the door panel off. It might just be a matter of locating the solenoid (the switch might be built in) or else looking for a separate microswitch and giving it a clean.

This is a slave solenoid.. Note only two wires.
Master solenoids have 4 or 5 wires.

They are plastic and usually welded together so once they crap out thats it...
You have two options...
1. Get a replacement drivers door solenoid from Mitsushitty or wreckers.
2. Swap the passengers side solenoid into drivers door. Won't fix the whole problem but will alleviate the inconvenience.

If it's a factory system things will (most likely) be a bit different to the above pic.

hey...... a mate had the same problem with his pajero.. it was a factory fitted system. we were able to use the original wiring with an aftermarket solenoid that we got from supercheap in a kit.

If that's the case I think Jaycar sell them individually.
