commodore 3.8 v6 into jackaroo

i have heard that the commodore v6 will bolt up to the v6 jackaroo bellhousing is this true as we just got a cheap jack off ebay with a blown motor and we are going to replace the motor in that one with the motor out of the jack we already have as the new one has no dents in it and our current jack has lots of dents (almost all body pannels) and i was thinking of putting a commodore v6 in the one we already have just to get it back on the road.
has anyone heard of or done this conversion

it turns out i have a better mechanic than the guy i got the jack off as it had a dodgy starter and possibly needs a crank angle sensor not bad considering his mechanic told him it put a rod out of the side of the block

yeah my mechanic is actually a good mate of mine we were actually just going to do an engine swap but i asked him to diagnose the engine as when we got the jack home we tried to start it and it wound over which i didnt think that a motor with a hole in the side of the block would do but it wound over nicely so i thaught it cant be what he said it was so i had a look at the block and i couldn't find a hole anywhere so thats when i figured there might not be as much wrong with it as he said so when i got it to my mates workshop and told him what had happened he took the starter out (what a pain in the a$$, gotta take the passenger side exhaust off just to get the starter out) but once it was out we found the contacts in the starter were rooted so $25 later and the starter was fixed with new contacts and it turnes over like a charm now so we just have to get a new crank angle sensor and it should be a runner i will let you know how things turn out

just for future referance marks adaptors in melb do up a bell housing to fit a 5L into a v6 jack works a treat just doesnt like cvs very much but pullin 337hp to the wheels so a fun drive

Molch, i was told it was a marks adaptor but could be wrong i got it through a bloke in melb who had a 5L in a mu thats where the idea come from il see if i can find his details for you he will be able to get 1 for you

im keen as. My 3.2 chews alot of petrol, I couldnt really see a 5l chewing through as much so long as i go easy on the right pedal...

Sudso, nope he swapped from one jack to the other but wants to put a 3.8 in the first...

sorry molch i found the guys phone number and tried callin him to find out where he got the adaptor from only to find out that he was 1 of the unlucky people killed in the fires, i wouldnt have a clue where else to try

As for the fuel sitution i bought the second jack with a blown motor for parts for the diesel and ended up playin with it after my mate wrote off his ss one of those great ideas when your on the piss , all depends on how far the right foot is sunkin in usually average around 15l/100K but thats a fair bit foot play. next step is live axle front then will play harder im gonna get it to a level to show up patrols well thats the plan

if you want to put the 3.8 into the jack and you have an auto then the the comodore 3.8 will bolt straight up to the auto bellhousing but you will need to modify the jack torque converter (or just the feet so it will bolt up to the v6 flex plate) and then do the engine mounts and wiring and your all set to go but remember this only works on the automatic transmission as it is a slightly different pattern to the manual bellhousing i hope this helps others out there

this also works with any vehicle with an asin warner auto g/box as the 94 jackeroo/rodeo auto bellhousing will bolt to this g/box and these g/boxes are found in a variety of cars including toyota's so if you have a car with an asin warner auto then all you need is a bellhousing from a 94 jackaroo/rodeo and a slightly modified converter and your in buisiness without having to spend $$$$$$ for a marks addaptor

yes the manual and auto isuzu v6's are different bolt patterns
