longfield axles & crawler gears
Hi,
Longfields: I have already done this before, and today i have gone back to locktup4x4 website to check out those 80series longfields again, and they are now $1700 a set i cant see myself spending that much money on some cv's, what do you all reckon? just keep visiting wreckers for used?
Crawler Gears: what else is there out there for an 80series besides marks adapters which only does 25% reduction?

$750 US at the moment is $1190 aus. Freight for the 80s i am not sure as i haven't been doing it for a while but would be at least $250US = $400aus i think it could be more?
add them together and you get $1590 + 10% sales tax $159 = $1749.
And with locktup the Warranty is less complicated as they are the distributor here.

Actually it could theoretically work out far dearer than that. Customs can also charge Customs Duty(Tax), GST(Another Tax) and yet ANOTHER TAX called a Declaration Processing Charge.bulldogy wrote:$750 US at the moment is $1190 aus. So the $1700 from Locked Up is not so bad.
I was being conservative best case lol i know what charges can be laid.Micka wrote:Actually it could theoretically work out far dearer than that. Was doing the basic to show it is still more from longfield than locktup without any backup.

be careful with the marks dual transfer set up, have heard of a few major problems, one of them a mate who had it go back several times and in the end ripped it out and got his $$ back or some of them anyway. in this case the week after it was installed they drove to the cape and it didn't make it, let alone into 4wd before it shat itself for the first time then 12 months of dramas.
imo, diff and crawler gears and be dome with it

You've prob heard this a hundred times but here goes....
Personal experience, im a thru an thru 60 series driver, and if you hav twin lockers (or just one) you put so much less stress on CV's cause you eliminate the run-ups and momentum to get you over obstacles, just crawling over is getting the job done.
Stop hitting obstacles so hard and you will save on CV's, sounds like you go thru them like stubbies!!
Invest in a Lockrite lokka if you dont wanna spend the money on ARB, TJM or Detroit lockers, mine has been put thru some shit and still holds like a champion!!
Keep up the good work buddy
