Samller oil filter to replace V01
Hey
I need a shorter filter to replace the V01 on my 2.8D lux.
Ive done a few mods to the front end and the standard length V01 is very close. The length of the filter needs to be shortened.
Ive heard that you can use surf ones cos they are smaller???
Any info...
Thanks

Firstly stay away from valvoline filters, ive had a few problems with them sealing properly. At least use Ryco or at best, Toyota.
What is the filter getting close to? If you have a 4WD 3L then the filter should be horizontal, pointing to the inner guard. If its a 2WD 3L then it points to the diff. If this is the case, grab a oil filter/cooler housing from the wreckers for the 4WD model - i got one for about 30 bucks.
But to answer your question, a Z170 is about 40mm shorter than a Z9 (VO1). That is what I use to clear my filter on the inner guard due to the oil cooler sandwich plate that I am running. Just change it more often.

On my ln106 with the oil filter that points to the diff. Are these ok or should i change it to the horizontal one.

Thanks for all the info
Ive mounted an 80 series box and the rubber uni joint on the box is really close to the oil filter, theres only about 10mm gap when sitting, not running.
beinthemud - you say Ryco doesnt recommend using which filter?
Who makes the Z170? Is this one ok to use?
So phippsy have u got anymore info on the remote setup? Where did you pick it up from? Pics?

I'll see what I can find, it was a few years ago and I've since sold th lux.
It came with a cast alloy plate that screwed onto the face where your existing filter screws on. To the plate you fit 2 barb fittings. It comes with a 2nd plate that the filter will mount to which is cast with 3 bolts holes for mounting it. This plate also needs 2 barb fittings fitted to it. A length of hose comes with the kit and is basically cut in half and fitted to the barbs between the 2 plates. The filter is screwed on and you're away.
http://www.speco.com.au/acccoolers.html#reloc half way down the page, oil filter relocation kit, not a very good picture though
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RACE-CAR-OIL-FIL ... 240%3A1318 this looks like the one I bought, but it was a long time ago when I bought
