Hello all,
I have been doing some searching around the forums about the Scorpion Suspension Extreme kit and I havn't been able to find a great deal of opinion about it, I gather that alot of people in the UK are unhappy with the customer service and the fact that they have copied some other brands ideas and systems.
I have a 1997 Tdi Land Rover Discovery, currently with 2" lift but I am seriously looking at their extreme kit, and am prepared to spend some reasonable money on my vehicle, but at the same time want value for money.
I'm not really interested in fluffing about in making my own shock towers and mounts, so on and so forth. I don't mind playing with some things but am alot more interested in something in "kit" form.
Does anyone out there have Scorpion's Extreme kit fitted? If so what do you think about it?
And if anyone else can give me an honest opinion on their product, or any other suggestions of what I should be looking at it would be much appreciated.

let the people here know what you want to achive. there is some good knowledge here.

what size tyres?
i think alot here will say for 1, that dislocation cones arnt the best idea.
lets break the kit down:
spring are springs, you can get them made here to your required height and rate.
arms, they can be made pretty easy, front castor can be corrected by slotting the holes in the swivel balls and rotating.
i would recomend Haultech Eng. slotted bushes for the front radius arms at axle end.
shocks, well the shocks in the equip set are quite a good brand, but for that money you could get some good fox or kings i would think.
although koni's can be sourced you just need to know the open/closed lenghts you want.
extended brake lines can be done by most brake shops.
the other thing to consider is maybe finding a custom suspenion fabber and getting them to do a kit for you...
maybe try BUBS on here and see if he does that sort of stuff?

The Scorpion kit seems to have good down travel but appears to really limit uptravel.
Most people will agree that balanced wheel travel, ie: similar travel up and down and back and front of vehicle is the best set up.
Try a search here and AULRO for others are using.

Basically what I want to achive is around 5inches of lift and the ability to run 35-36inch tyres, I am planning on some guard cutting and running wider offset tyres. Also I understand that going to that size of tyre I will need to upgrade axles and cv's but if not too much right foot is applied I feel these should be ok for awhile but they will get done when the bank account is back to a suitabe level.
The main reason I'm looking at the scorpion kit is that it's off the shelf, wich I know isn't always the best but I live on the far south coast nsw (Merimbula) and getting things fabbed up locally is basically impossible.
I gather no one on here is using their kit in their rover?
As far as the spring dislocation goes I'm a little unsure about the exact advantage, sure you get massive drop out but I don't imagine you being able to put much power down with basically no weight on the dropped wheel. Maybe with a locker this won't be a problem?

I am using bits of the kit...like shock mounts and dislocation cones.
If you get your hands on "a 4x4 is born" the kits is used on the build up. One big problem is the rear shock sits out a fair and this limits uptravel of the rear tyres.
Dave at Rovacraft in Perth is the Aussie reseller. Give him a call.
But is is much cheaper to get custom bits here in Aus. Even look at the LRA long travel kit

After much thought and consideration, I decided to go for LRA's 2.5" body lift and their +30 suspension kit, nearly got it all in... And I'm very keen to give her a run and see the results. Also are range rover rims a wider offset than the discovery ones? I want to run a 15x8 2" offset rim, my mate has a set of 5 off a rangie but he's not sure of the offset.

So the rims are the exact same offset as the standard disco rims... BUGGER! there goes that Idea. As far as the flares go I was going to have a play around with glassing up my own, or just use rubber but I want something that looks nice... But dare I say it I will more than likely just buy them off LRA
I realise the decision's been made already (good choice) but just for info, Scorpion Racing seem to have gone under again - in case anyone else is thinking of sending any money their way.

Rumour is true. Dale can do cranked front arms to suit rangies upto 5 inches.
