A complete disregard of practicality....... very deep pockets and lots of serious engineering
Your going to have to replace transmission , transfer, driveshafts, front and rear axles, torsion bars shocks etc etc...... etc... etc
Your also going to have to fit heaps of body lift to get clearance on the front diff. Whilst your at it fit an EXO cage to it as its going to spen lots of time on its roof / side if you go off road.
And lastly - you stand an iceblocks in hell of getting it engineeed IF you want to drive it on the road.

It seemed like a much better idea when I started it than it does now.

Also the Piglets car was a V6 commodore engine (but mind you he had an old F series chassis), it can be done with the right know how and money, but basically you will have to gut the car whenever you put any engine that will put heaps more ponies than he piddly 1.6L because none of the components are made for much of a beating.
Besty's ended up exactly as I described and very high.... Piglet is even more modified - both prove that it can be done with all the issues listed.
And wether they could be produced, engineered and Rego'd wherever whaldo lives NOW is also an open question.
Whaldo - just how much work do you want to do ? Basically nothing is a simple bolt in option, but if you have the time and money then anythings possible - legality excluded.
More info needed from you - Legal ? How much are you prepared to spend ? How much time off the road ? is it for genuine off road driving or its it your daily driver etc etc....

Ive been thinking about doing an engine swap if my engine goes also (not that it will anytime soon), i was thinking ca18 det set up, i know a guy around brisbane that mate gearbox/transfercase adapters.
i am a mechanic and have done a few engine swaps, so im just wondering if anyone else had this idea?

I suspect that just about every engine has been mentally fitted into a Feroza at some time.
IMO its very little to do with the engine its more the limitations of the standard driveline. Whats the point of doing an adaption to a gearbox that just isn't going to handle the power and a transfer with no range choices. ?
Even if it all holds together then your diffs won't be happy. Its got to be a package, motor, box, transfer, driveshafts, diffs, brakes, suspension etc etc
There is a good reason why Besty's Feroza has FULL Hilux running gear behind his Holden engine to handle the extra torque.
And your choices are pretty limited as the Feroa's short wheelbase makes selecting a replacement driveline very difficult.
It al makes for a very interesting set of choices.
