Have you checked prices on Airflow snorkels from 4WD systems? http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/

More like $350 than $500. Might still be too much, I guess, depending on what you're after.

Don't make it out of PVC.....I had that on my sierra..... as soon as you lean it on a bank or give it a good nudge it explodes.....

Stainless tube and rubber bends are the go!

If you can't afford $500 for a snorkel, I suggest you sell your 4by and buy a Corolla cause the mod prices only go up from there ... :?

Hey Animal,

Not lookin for one yet, but more curious to see if there was an easier way (cheaper way) of getting one when i decide to take the leap and cut a hole in my front guard, lol

Thanks for the off though man and when I decide to buy one ill have a look around the forums in the selling section.

& just thought id let u know i had the 45' degree angle at the top facing back before but it always seemed to suck in the dirt & mud from the back wheel, so i put on the proper snorkel end!! no mud or dust as yet & goes heaps better having the cold air intake!! just an idea ;)

GQ351. Snorkel looks great. im just up the road from thomastown so might be worth a look down there. What did you use over the hole you cut in the guard, is it like a rubber boot? how did you fix the snorkel to the pillar?

hey shanus' thanks mate, with mine i used just a peice of C channle rubber from CLARKS RUBBER just to dress it up around the hole, as you can see in the pic fore the pillar i used a peice of 4'' x 4'' stainless steel plate & bolted it to the snorkel & self tapperd it to the pillar.. & bolted it to the gaurd with 2 bolts spaced with rubber gromets so it sits away from the gaurd & doesnt rattle. hope this helps abit...

Just completed my custom snorkel yesterday.
Cost me around $230 all up later add $50 for a stainless 45 bend insted of rubber and you still come under $300....

Pretty big saving also can get a full pipe with welded bends in stainless for about $280 then you fit the rest...ie rubber 90 into the guard....
