Water pump problems??? HJ60
It started off being a few drips coming out of what appeared to be the water pump. Strange thing is it only came out when the cooling system was cold and de-pressurised. I threw a bottle of chemi-weld in there and it seemed to go away. On the weekend, i changed the coolant and it seemed like the problem came back (and i was already on my may to Lithgow), so i chucked in a bottle of bars stop leak. However, it is still leaking and i think it has gotten worse. Thing is, i can't tell exactly where the leak is coming from cause the coolant is being thrown everywhere off the fan belts. The leak however doesn't seem to get worse as the pressure builds up in the system, infact it seems to slow down a little.....has anyone got any ideas what it could be?

did you take of the hose that goes to the water pump when ouyu did your coolant change sometimes these dont seal back up i use locktight stuff it comes in a bottle and is a brown sticky stuff i put it around the hose before refitting old hoses and it works as ive had a few leak after i have drop the hose and the pipe was a little corroded

I haven't touched anything around the water pump itself. I took the top and bottom radiator hoses off when i changed the coolant. They don't appear to be leaking. There is very minimal corrosion on all the fittings that i have inspected. Its very crowded around the pump, so it is really hard to see exactly where the leak is coming from. The pipe work directly above the water pump appear to be dry under normal conditions. I thought it may have been a hair line fracture in the water pump housing that leaked when the system was cold because the crack opened up, and when the system got hot, it would close up due to the housing expanding....just a theory.
