Hi guys i've been tinkering away at my daughters sierra for a couple of months now and i've just about finished it to register it, but the engine has developed a knock at idle. This wasn't apparent until i kitted the carby and got it to idle for the first time.
I went over the engine with a stethoscope and thought the noise was coming from the 1st cyclinder.
So i pulled the motor out put it up on the stand and had a look at the big ends they are slightly worn but not totaled .
The pistons looked good with no obvious cracks or broken rings.
So i'm at a loss to find it i put my dial indicator on the crank and tried to lever it up and down to find any movement ...nu
So i'm going to change the big end bearings give it a light bottle hone and slap it back togeather!
Anybody got anymore ideas?
Also who has parts i've been quoted $356.00 delivered for a set of standard rings from repco have to order and $52 for a set of standard big ends.

Standard rings and big end bearings for a G13
make sure you hone it correctly, the "crosshatch" pattern inside the bore is very important. maybe use a bore cleaner (like a pipe cleaner with stone balls on it) instead of a hone. so long as its not glazed over real bad it should be fine.
usual attention to detail with bearing clearence's and not over streaching rings when fitting to pistons.

Well i checked the bolt with the Tourque wrench and all good but!!suzimad

check your camshaft sprocket bolt.
It MOOVED (the sprocket)!!!!
I changed over from a 93'swift engine and did all the swaps and ended up using a crap belt spocket.
I've found a better on amongst all my crap this one has been reinforced by suzuki it must have been an issue in the 84' models or first series g13a's.
