DIFF RATIOS
hi all getting the hj47 closer to completion and at the moment thinking about diff gears will be running 33-35 tyres vehicle has a 5speed box and a 2h with a turbo main concern is that i dont want the engine to be doing a million rpm at 110k tell me what you running and what are the like
I found the standard 4.11 diffs great for 33" tyres, 2H turbo & 5 speed. When I went to 35" I found that 5th gear was next to usless. I have now gone to 4.56 and that is ideal.

I'll have to get back to you on that one - the Cruiser is at the doctors at the moment.
According to my gear ratio calculator with 35z and 4.56 diffs I should be doing around 2550RPM as opposed to 2450RPM with 33z and 4.11 diffs.

Mine was turbo with work done to it, and I found fifth gear fine.Sixty's Guy wrote:I found the standard 4.11 diffs great for 33" tyres, 2H turbo & 5 speed. When I went to 35" I found that 5th gear was next to usless. I have now gone to 4.56 and that is ideal.
But I know what you mean, becuase my 3B with 35s and 5 speed didn't like running in 5th gear.
