FEBUARY LOGAN NIGHT RUN

FEBUARY LOGAN NIGHT RUN
The run is set for the 7th Febuary Saturday evening.
Okies, rating for the run is medium BUT I have an extreme track as well for those who have a dire need for a buzz. You do the extreme section at your own risk as per normal, though there will be veichles about to help recover people, of course there are ways past it.
Meeting time is 6pm at the BP Servo at Gailes, off the Ipswich Motorway.
The run itself is in Camira, for those that have vehicles that QLD TPT may object to being on gazetted roads, I have an alternate start point, but I need to know if this is the case.

Do we have our club insurance problems sorted now?
I missed the last meeting so im not aware of any changes since the last run.
Nothing has changed yet! the club policy is as it was at the december meeting

So this will mean that this run will be a Club members only run then right?
Otherwise we could end up in hot water.
Im hopeing i should be able to make this one as long as my rig is still running after this weekend at XRCC. Its been over a year since i have driven my own rig on a club run.
Nick wont let me drive his 4 runner any more
It was stated at December meeting, and I will be corrected if wrong, that non members can attend but they are restricted to how many they go along to. The cost involvement is such that its beneficial if people want to do this sort of thing at least once a month to join otherwise it is just not cost effective to come along and drive it, if it costs say $15 - $20 per car. For a non member its not worth it if there only going to come along once, but if you like it as most of us do, then why not, cheaper in the long run though.
We cannot advertise to the general public, but we can answer questions and the like and if people who are not of the club attend the run well thats something entirely. Using a public forum some might argue its a form of advertising but to a extent its the only way one member of the Logan club can reach 20 others of the club and can pass details on to their friends/partners etc.
In order for the club to survive and prosper though we need members what better way to get them by our night runs. they don't have to attend meetings, just as long as their is a way of reaching them.
Regards
Ben

Is it like a mini comp?
Thanks
In a way, they are a bit like a mini comp. However, they are not timed. Each team consists of one vehicle, one driver, and one navigator. All teams meet at a designated meeting point. Teams then sign on and pay the appropriate fees. You will recieve a map, herring-bone style (similar to a rally map). From there you leave the start line, following the instructions on the map. The map will lead you to Checkpoints along the way. These are area's, usually, of harder driving than the rest of the run, that you can score bonus points at. There will also be a written question sheet that must be answered along the way, and sometimes there will be certain items that must be brought to the finish line. (eg - a stick measuring exactly 143mm.) Teams are scored on their observation skills, driving skills, and their ability to work as a team to solve problems. Ask anyone that's been on a Logan night run, and they'll all say the same thing. They are awesome fun. This run would be particularly good for anyone that hasn't done one before, as the "hard" sections can be avoided if the driver wants to. I hope this has explained it a bit for you Josh_GQ?
Hope to see you at the start line.....
Simon.

Is anyone interested in helping out on the night ?
If so either PM me or mobile 0422 432 611
Also after one hardcore fourbie to pretest the hard circuit, be aware that you cannot drive on the night.
If you do want to drive it, you'll need decent tyres and clearance - hey I did say it was hard A winch might not go astray though there will be other vehicles who are capable of snatching and keelhaluing you out! Once again contact me if your intrested...

Many members are confused about our night run fees and insurance because no final decition has been made.
At this point in time there is no official charge we only ask if you would pay a gold coin donation to help subsidise costs of setup ect.
All persons must sign the attendance/indemnity sheet before participating or they are not covered.
However before the run there is a commity meeting and insurance is going to be a hot topic so there may or may not be a change to this current arrangement.
Hope this answers most of your questions and enjoy the run probably do a "wheres wally" on this one ( is he the or is he not )

Last night the Logan Committee met and discussed the issue of the public liability insurance. In order to keep on the right side of the law it has been finalised that all night runs are to be Logan members only. If you join on the night of the run, thats fine, Nat will be on hand most times and will get membership cards out soon after. Its a shame that it has to be this way, but with club support we can keep up a high level of night runs. Please consider joining the club, its not expensive and you can go on all the runs you feel like then. Its just without your name on the sign on book, you and others are not covered and that leaves people exposed.
This does effect this run and all other runs to happen. People can contact Nat34 or Russel Coit for further details of memberships etc.
All in all I am sorry about the way this has turned out to be, but this is the way it has to be as well now, whether we like it or not!

Ben,
I commend the Logan Club on their decision. To ensure that liability insurance is not voided is paramount to protecting the club officials, organisers and participants. To my knowledge the membership fees charged by the Logan Club are quite reasonable, and therefore it is not a lot to ask of participants in order to retain access to these well organised and thoroughly enjoyable night runs.

Thank you to all that have supported our runs over the years. As they are saying unless you are a Logan member you cannot do any of our runs. So now would be the perfect time to make that decision and join TODAY
If anyone is interested in joining the club, I will be on the run and will have membership forms with me.
Please be fair and do not turn up for the run - unless you are either a current member or are joining on the night. This only makes a good situation ugly!!
Hope to see you all there.
Nat........

Would like to get a general response from who would be coming and who would need a membership form on the night. (Bring a pen)
We also have the last draw for a raffle that we have been running over a few months.

I assume that the association fee is that of the association of 4wd clubs (or what ever the correct name is)? If this is the case and you are currently a financial member of another affilliated club then does the association fee still stand?

Yep, you have to pay the association fee for each club you are in, as each club must be insured for all its members.

This is something that I am not that clear on and I will endeavor to find out and let you all know via this post.......
If this is the case our club is still one of the cheapest to join and as everyone knows we are a active 4x4 club. "More fun this way"
