As the titles suggests what do you guys think of putting that set up running 10psi or even lower 6-8psi,

Hey mate, i have just gone through the process of changing from a 2.8 with a turboglide turbo kit to a LN167R 2004 model 3.0L EFI diesel engine.
What year model is it?
and is it the 5LE motor (EFI 3.0L diesel) or just the 5L motor (non electric fuel pump)

3.0L turbo diesel, 4" lift, bud's front housing, track assasin cv's, air lokker front + Rear, beadlock'd 37 stickies, high steer, 15.5" travel ranchos, high pinion diff and coils on the rear
If you are going to run a turboglide kit they will tell you 9psi IS to be run, i tried to tak to them and they basically said the actuator is set to 9psi, and thats what they run, you need a diffefent rod to go from the actuator to the waste gate so that you can turn it down.
My turbo i just set up runs a DP type chip (comes from a place called turbonetics in WA) which is a adjustable type diesel chip that you can turn up or down depending no how you tune it.
The one turboglide sells is set on one setting for the 9psi, and they do not sell it to be installed by anyone but them selves. So if you were thinking of installing the kit youself, you would have to take it to them anyway to get the module installed or buy a DP chip.
I read some info on the net when i was researching about the turbo's for this modlel and i found out (from a few places) that these engines cant handle high boost over a long period of time, so to set it up with 6-8psi would prob be the best option.
Having said that i have to detune mine at the moment as mine is hitting 13psi and i have the computer module set a little high, EGT's arn't high but it drinks the fuel and f'n flies (smashed a 1kzte lux).

Basically there was a company that was trying to devellop a kit for these motors and basically the conclusion was that they would no sell the kits after extensive testing found them to have a weak bottom end when loaded up over long period of time.
It didn't say what the boost was but every one of the diesel turbo places seem to limit them at 9psi, so i believe it is not a good idea to go over it.
I still get great power out of mine on 6-7psi with the computer module set on the right setting.
I don't think 4wd'n would have a impact on the motor, more like towing or heavily loaded on a highway sitting on full boost for long periods of time. (thats what killed my 2.8 coming from NSW to WA fully loaded on 11psi boost and it was intercooled)

ok the only reason im asking as theres a 4wd im wanting to buy and it has this set up with a rapid chip making 134hp the main power gain is made from the chip but hes had it all dyno tuned by a shop ect, so yeh the only problem im worried about is the internals failing or the gearbox letting go due to the extra power/torque made. i dont drive my vehicles hard but i drive 30minutes from the southside to the northside each weekend then back so that shouldnt be any issue should it?
nah should be sweet, especially if it has been set up professionally on a dyno.
If you get it the best two things you can get to ensure it will last (if it does not already have them) is get a boost gauge and a EGT gauge so that you can see what pressure it is running and what temps are goin through the engine.
