GQ rear springs in a Pajy for 2 inch lift?

Hey,

Just wanting to double check.
I've read that using GQ standard rear springs to give a 2 inch lift.
I'm not sure if it for the gen 1 aswell?
I couldn't find where I read it but Just curious.

I have a 89 Gen 1 Import model, Which means I have coil rear end.
So does this mean I can use GQ springs? Then use the tortion to match?

Hope it does because I picked up two rear springs from a GQ for the right price (Free) =p.

i have a 91 v6 same shape as yours in a wagon and they fit great in mine :cool:

I used heavy duty standard height patrol springs on my NJ which resulted in a 3-4" lift. I would imagine it would be the same in the Gen 1's as long as it it coil rear end.

are there any markings on the patrol springs that i could check to see if my pajero already had patrol springs in the back, ive noticed that mine seems to sit up a little higher than most of the pajeros i have seen around my area

You could possibly measure them?
Stock Pajy ones should measure out to be about 400mm and the patrol ones to be about 450mm.

Wire diameter could be an indicator too. IIRC, Paj springs are typically wound from 17mm wire and Patrol from 18mm.

I wouldn't go off the length to much. When I lifted my challenger the springs were 10mm shorter than the standard but it lifted the car near 2 inches.

Its all in the amount of coils and dia of the material.

mine is about 520mm but that was just after putting them on will have settled a bit by now

If you put these springs on the back, what do you do for the front? I read something about changing the torsion bars, what ever that is about? What shocks would you put on all round?
I want to do this to my 95 3.5V6 but I don't have a great deal of money, I also would like your comments on tyres, I want to fit 31inch have good off road grip but still have some road manners, any ideas?

If you are wanting to run 31 inch tyres, why are you wanting to put Patrol springs in? All that will do is give you something that rides harder and doesn't corner as well.

But for the front, you'd just wind the torsion bars up, not replace them at this stage.

Well I was after the extra height, hence the springs and suspension lift. I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to fit 31inch tyres without some kind of lift.
The suspension needs a good update all-round anyway, so Im going to do that and the tyres in 1

You will fit 31's on now, it will depend on the rims you have and if they are 7 inches wide or not. With that sort of lift you will get 33's on I'd say.

3.5V6 Pajeros (GLS/Exceed models) came from the factory with 265/70R16 tyres - in the "old money" they're 31x10.5R16.

Worst case, you'll need flared guards.
