changing link bushes?

im trying to change the bushes in the ends of my links and i need some advise on getting the old ones out.

how do i go about getting them out?? i tried using a socket and hammer with no success

If they are rubber ones with a metal shell then I machine up a drift (or find something that fits) and press them out.

Maybe possibly if you have a vice and can setup in it to either press with it, or hold it from moving while you drift it with the hammer. Also try to setup directly over your bench leg to remove some flexing out of the system - it knocks the peak force out of the blow and makes everything jump everywhere.

There is a way to do it at home but its rough n not real easy.
Cut, drill or burn the rubber out, then cut the outer shell with a hack saw, now use a bfh and a screw driver to peel the shell out.

you still have to use a press to put the new ones back in tho, unless u wanna use those stupid 2 peice poly ones

ahhahahahhah i was in queensland, wanted to replace the panhard bushes, and had the same problem. had been travelling for the previous 6 months and so didnt have everything possible, but i did have a hammer and that. Anyways tried and tried and tried, same sort of bushes like your talking about. Then i got creative with the bottle jack... was walking around looking to see how i could use the jack like a press, i got two dollys of wood either side of the panhard, and put the whole lot into the bottom of a shipping container near a building site i presume where big forks lift the containers from, and punched out both bushes and punched in new ones. ahhaaha worked a treat actually, was pretty funny, some good bush mechanics in practice.

thats the problem the bushes arnt farked its the link ends that are im changing link ends and was swapping the bushes over!! ive change now ill just buy new ones!!

thats the problem the bushes arnt farked its the link ends that are im changing link ends and was swapping the bushes over!! ive change now ill just buy new ones!!
