Well i'm about to rip out the 1.3 in the sierra for its heart transplant, and just went to take it for its last drive down to my stepdads place to use his shed and i cant select reverse, it wont go into 5th either.
It goes right across but not up or down and if i do push it right across between 5th and reverse and let the clutch out it goes forward.
Anyone have this happen or know what it could be? slector? the plastic thingy?

Ive got some troops coming to help push it so i can get out my drive

Id be checking the gearstick bushing. They can create some funny (or not so funny) problems when they are worn and are very common to fail in sierras.

sounds like you need to pull the gear lever out and re-align the selector rods with a screw driver.

10 minute job if that is the problem.

Can you select 1-4 gears ok?
