I'm a traveller and will be in Alice Springs in about 10 days. Is there anybody out there who can do an oil change for me? Moreover there should be a change of the oil+fuel filter and a small check, if everything looks fine with the car (as I don't know much about it).
Find an auto store, buy the oil, filter & drain pan & do it yourself at your campsite. Tip the old filter into the pan, put the old oil back into the oil container you bought, and find an appropriate place (i.e. rubbish dump?) to dispose of the lot. The cost of the oil pan will be less than paying somebody to do it, and you get the satisfaction of a job well done.
Oh, you'll need a beer or two do drink while you're waiting for the oil to drain.

And you know it's been done... instead of being told it's been done as what happens at some places.

It's a Landcruiser 60.
Of course I would spring some beers
Cheers
If it is a job you'd normally tackle yourself, then do it your self.. The Mac Donnell ranges caravan park has an oil change bay for travellers, complete with enviromentally friendly oil disposal.
Short of that, ring a local tour operator and ask who looks after his rig.
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
Now that is some golden information there... are there any other caravan parks etc that people know about that have a facility such as this? Or something that is more known about on EOZ?
You're certainly getting around mate.. hows the 60 going? have you managed to find 2nd gear yet or is it still not working?
Cheers,
Andrew
2nd gear is working most of the times Have done 10.000km since I left you. Two flat tires (have two new ones now), one brake capiler was damaged (and I lost all break power), flat batterie, stabilizer bar damage, rear diff oil leak (have a new seal now) and some minor things - but still driving fine
I can change the oil filter myself. But never changed the fuel filter. I guess that's not sooo complicated.
But would be nice, if someone could have a look on the car. Just that everything is like it should be
There is a workshop at the rear of the "Don Kyatt" shop in Alice Springs (under the same roof but different business), I don't recall the name but they were very friendly and helpful and I didn't need a tube of "KY" when I settled the account, I would recommend them most highly, they also had tour buses from about 4 different outfits in the workshop while I was there
Happy trails,
Peter.
Cable bracing is the way of the future!
