Who has them, what are they like? Whilst looking for my next 4x4 I found one local that's just within my price range.

I know it's a pretty broad question, but would just like to hear all comments/views/opinions etc cause I've never really even heard much about these cars.

Would like to know if the stated fuel figures sound about right, what diffs/gearbox they run, how hard is it to get parts for them and so on. Leaf sprung all round I'm guessing?
Being only a 4spd, are they a bit of a dog on highways?

What would it take to make one half decent offroad? Can't really see in that pic but I think they have a lot of overhang.

Whats the 351 engine like? To work on, for reliability, for power and so on?

I've always wanted one as a project.

Don't know much about them though, but they run Dana diffs, either 44s or 60s from memory.

it should be a live axle coil front end[dana 44] with a 9 inch rear.that model is better than the bronco shape in the body.no plastic inner guards.
t18 4 spd is a reliable clunker of a box.low 1st,big gap between 3 & 4.351 on straight gas in good cond might get 5 k/ltr if u are nice to it. mine only ever went as good as 4-4.5.but gas was cheap[half] so cost wise it was better than a diesel 6 in a toyota grandloser, with shitloads more stick.these are a big bodied ute and in the bush they are a handful.but on the road, they are comfy.we've had f100 2wd,f150 4wd,f350 4wd,f350 2wd.parts are easy.power steer is a must do for slow work.i have a set of hurricane 8'' alloys for this model if u are after some.
