Got an LSD in the front of fathers '84 Hilux.
Had to cut one of the axle shafts shorter (about 5mm off the splined inner end) to get the axle to sit far enough into the LSD centre. Its because the LSD has a centre block or cross shaft (cant remember which) that prevents one of the shafts going far enough in. Anyway seems all good now.
Here is a thread from when I was fitting it:

Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.

We did not do the LSD. Dad had someone else do it. SO cannot help you there sorry.
We have not had the car on the road yet . But just driving it around the yard it steers as easy as pie (my Sierra with open diffs is harder to turn, with its non-power steer). It has powersteer and crossover highseteer if that makes any difference.
Edit:
I should also add that the LSD seemed tight when we put it in. But with everything setup and asembled now (wheels on etc), the LSD can "break" with two people (1 holds one end still, and the other pushes the other side). Its still tighter than most toyota LSDs ive played with on standard Hiluxs (only about 4 or so Ive looked at). This is very hard to do with the axle now bolted in the car though.
