Nissan bus motor td 4.2

Post by beast of a GQ »

Just wondering if the diesel motor out of a nissan bus is the same as a patrol motor. They both say Td4.2 All i no is that they r a 6 cylinder and i think they come out of a nissan civilian bus (Im not a 100% sure). I can get 1 reasonably cheap just gotta make sure they match up.

AFAIK they are one and the same, an ex Nissan dealership mechanic also told me once if I ever get a clutch from Nissan to ask for a quote "clutch for a nissan civilian bus" unquote - same gearbox but listed as cheaper than when cross referenced with Patrol etc.

if its designated TD42 then it will be a TD42.

Then it may have been setup internally different for more torque being a bus donk.

Fairly sure they were also in early Nissan forklifts, which I think is where the engine started out. its been discussed, but CBF searching.

Google from memory brings the TB42 up as being from a forklift.

tb42 and td42 engines are used in alot of things like stationary engines to forklifts.

they come with different fan mounts, accessory mounts, pump mounts.....
If the civiallian bud is designated TD42, then its the same.

how much is really cheap? Brand new in a crate is $6000 short which I think is cheap for another 600,000klms at least.

Are their any mountings etc that would be useful to use for mounting extras like second alt's or endless air? That would just bolt up to the patrol TD42?

Can anybody find any pics etc of the other versions of the TD42?

If it's that cheap and the box is manual...the box might be worth getting as well?

Get the g/box too if its available! They have a few beefier internal parts in the bus and UD truck boxes.
