lower transfer gears or 1lt transfer box

Post by wb800 »

Hi

Ive been trying to get a 1 lt transfer but no luck.
i have a wt with 30" muds on and cant use 5 gear.
If i put 6.1 crawler gears it will i be back to nearly standard gearing and be able to get to 100 on the hiway and use 5 gear.
Also how low will low range be ? 1st low will become 5th low if that makes sence ?

Thanks

6.5's will probably be too low for 30's. I'd suggest looking for 4.1 or 4.9 gears instead.

try www.lowrangeoffroad.com ;)

The trail creeper 6.5:1 gears are 20% lower in high range, to bring gearing back to stock (from a 26inch tyre) you need a 31inch tyre, Im running TC 6.5:1 gears on 30's it revs high, but IMO not too high.

My full setup is
1.6-->5speed sierra GB-->6.5:1 TC-->4.11 diffs-->30inch tyres

I'm running 31's with 4.16's and standard 3.7 diff centres. The low range is good but it hasn't really helped with 5th gear all that much.

i have 31s and a 6.5 gear set and 100 (on a gps) is only 3400rpm
with the heavy tyres i have it would be much better revin
1t 38 or 3900.
