Factory locker wiring question

Factory locker wiring question
I am going to install a factory locker on my GQ and I’m interested in how people wired theirs up. I understand that it is originally hooked up to a controller behind the radio bay, but I won’t go down that path.
As far as I can see, the actuator on the diff works in two directions and is hooked up to the solenoid accordingly. So, the locker is engaged using the upper line and disengaged with lower line. Also, it looks like if the actuator doesn’t get vacuum on either port, the locker is disengaged (is this correct??).
My plan is to hook the solenoid up to a three-way switch (1-0-1;-> on-0-off) and power it off my secondary battery so that the locker doesn’t disengage when the engine is switched off and the locker switch in on ‘on’.
The ‘off’ position would be used to disengage until the control light goes off and then returned to 0.

Let me know what you think about this idea?

Cheers

I wouldn't bother with the factory solenoid set up. They are slow to work and often one of the solenoids has packed it in and the Nissan replacement is the whole unit at about $200, cant just replace a solenoid on it. I fit aftermarket ones made by Mac Valves and cheaper than Nissan too.
You dont need a 3 way switch, once the locker is disengaged it stays disengaged. Same with engagement, it only needs vacuum to engage or disengage. Once in its in but if there is no vacuum when its engaged it can disengage with a loud thud while turning on a bitumen surface.

Mine is controled by Toyota solenoids. They are the ones that control the front axle free wheel on Surfs. Really cheap and reliable (so cheap 2nd hand).
They are controled by a change over relay and a simple switch inside on the dash.
From factory the diff lock has a cut out at 10kph, warning lights etc etc. You can ignore all of that stuff.
93 Nissan Pathfinder / Terrano Turboed VH45, GQ Trans and T-case, coil overs, hydraulic winch and fair bit of other stuff. (Currently a pile of parts in the workshop)

Thanks for the input guys. I think, I worked the wiring out. The solenoids seem to work fine. Haven't hooked them up though.
