I was running 31x10.5x15 MTZ's on my TD hilux, and found them really good. On road grip is fantastic, either wet or dry- Could push harder than the vehicle was really capable of and they still didnt let go! (felt like the lux was going to fall over!)

offroad i found them very versatile- in sand i had to drop to around 8psi to get myself off a nasty beach- but that beach also involved about 2hrs winching to get an 80 series and GQ off it too! Normally run around 12-14psi in them on the sand and they go everywhere i want them too.

In mud they are good until you hit the sticky crap, then they do suffer some clogging- But nothing short of Pedes will help in that snot.

Fast gravel had a bit of vaugeness, but that could be attributed to the road pressures.

On rocks they are as good as my cousins MT/R's- never had problems with lack of grip, more lack of tyre size to get up objects!

Wear- I rotated every 10K kms, and ran them at around 34psi on an unladen hilux, took them off at 40,000kms and they were still over 50% remaining.

Reason i took them off? So i could put 285/75R16 MTZ's on! :D

Havent used them , but i have herd from mates that have run them and reckon they are a great tyre!!

We live on a property and our main road is/was they are slowly fixing it/140ks of really ordnairy road.Any atz tyre we tryed seemed to cut badly from the speed and particular rock on the road.Years ago we started running bf muddies and found that they could handle it and although we were getting less ks over all we still had 4 tyres at the end of it.Then bfs seemed to get alot softer and wear was a problem.Mtzs fixed this problem and we find them the best allrounder.You can get through just about any crappy road condition better than any other long wearing tyre I have seen.They are even competitive in comps.Some tyres are stickier but for a tyre to go through ruff stuff and then drive 500ks home they get my vote..Billy

on my 2nd set on patrol,

first set got 85000 on touring type driving.

2nd set on new work patrol got 42000 and are bout half worn again touring type work... going great no flats no dramas just cant emphasise getting balance and rotate regularly from say 30 000km or earlier......

put it this way not many muddies you would tackle the cape with say 55 ooo km already on them but these i shall be... :armsup: if i make it back or not is another story! but i cam confident.. half my mates run them now and all happy... few more replacing coopers for mtz before cape namely chasing more kms. apart from that the coopers done him proud.

Had a set installed in october, did 3000k's then staked a sidewall on a log - only bummer really.

Had them for 10,000k's now and they are great on/off road, hang on well in clay/soft stuff and clear okay when aired down to under 10psi.

Seem to be okay on rocks, but will definitely use my Simex ET's in heavy gloop.

Been great on road reasonably quiet.

Has anyone else found that the initial tread wear appears pretty excessive? I run 305/70/16s and have done about 15,000 kms of which around 5,000 would have been on unsealed roads.

I went back to the Tyre retailer and they said they thought the exact same thing on an 80 series they put them on. Mickey Thompson aparently calls in "lugg compression".

After the inital wear, they seem to have gotten a bit noiser as MTs do. Other than that, can't fault them off road, they have been brilliant.

it could also be the standard "big cars wear a lot faster than lighter ones" coming into play too

Funny you should say that starting to get wear on a wagon, done about 20000ks though.Are you running 10`` rims to suit 305s?

I am running 16x8 rims. According to MT website. 8 - 10 are fine for 305/75/16.

I have a pretty heavy wago aswell. LWB GQ, front and rear bars, winch, drawer system etc.

We ran the 285/75R16 MTZ on a very heavy GU ute. Vehicle lies dormant for 4 months of the year and we fitted them up for a new season.
Tyres did 66,000kms in 2 Cape Trips, a few weekends, a western Qld Trip and the Kimberleys. Only one puncture which was a bit of rio on the bitumen coming into Derby.
By the end of the season (rotation after each trip) they still had a reasonable amount of tread but we pulled them off and replaced with a new set.
Very happy with the ride, handling and noise levels on the black top. Steering response on gravel is very good.

I reckon mine have worn fast, 80series. 315/75r16s on 8"rim.
No idea how many Ks ive done but Id guess at around 15,000. They definitely need to be rotated more regularly than my previous tyres.
Cant fault them offroad, I have aired down to 15psi with good results. they are getting better onroad too (or maybe Im getting used to them :oops: ) I didnt like them at all onroad when first fitted.

I've just about gone through my set of MTZ's. Awesome tyre i would defiantly buy them again not a problem.
04 GU Wagon 3L TD. 33's, 3" flexy coil lift. Kicker stereo, LOUD

GQ TD4.2 Extra Cab, 6" Flexy coil lift, Pro comps, 3rd's upper and lowers, 37 boggers. Plenty more to come.

Yep all the time around the high country and they have been brilliant. Just make sure you run the right pressures to get them to bagout nicely.

they definately are a tyre that needs to scrub in to get the best handling on the black top. my 285/75R16's were horrible when i first got them- twitchy and misbehaving quite badly, but about 1600kms of tar later, they are just as predictable as the old ones were.

Sold the old ones to a guy at work and he's over the moon with them!

even at highway pressures, these things dig in and find traction where others couldnt- the Maxxis buckshots i used to run arent even in the same league as these.

Just got quoted $340 a tire, want to know if its a good, bad, or average price.

Yes, it should include fitting and balancing without exception. (but always check first)

Have been happy with both sets I've had.....

Got 33x12.5R15s on the 40 for around town use.....great all round performance....fairly noisy on the road but.

Had the equivalent of 35x12.5R17s on the 4runner, and loved them too. For some reason they didn't seem anywhere near as loud as what the ones on the 40 are.

The runner will have a crapload MORE soundproofing in it than the 40 series ;)

Are these a true size tyre?

Ie 35" is actually 35" and not 33 1/4?

Im looking at purchasing a set in the coming week for my 75 series ute.
If its not upside down and on fire, I'm not trying hard enough.......

With half worn 33's on a 60 up at alex/big river we where slipping and sliding everywhere, tyres wouldnt clear the muddy claggy type stuff.
The back end was really trying to overtake the front goin down hills/over washouts. slipped sideways like claws but now strait line grip either. We didnt air down though

near new 31 mtz's on the zook with us where amazing aired down.
