I have a mate with a petrol 100 series solid axel.

It is:
very comfy
very spacious
very capable
very thirsty
very cheap

but most of that stuff is very obvious. the only issues they have ever had with it have been a dead alternator after it got wet/muddy. appart from that nothing much and they have been around aus etc.

but they spend huge dollars on maintaining this vehicle. they really go to town on it. this may attribute to its reliable nature.

The only down sides I noticed driving it were the heavy clutch - non issue in the auto and its thirst.

I questioned them on converting it to gas and they said not interested due to friends being dissappointed with their 100 series conversions.

When we wheel it drinks 3 times as much fuel as my frugal lux.
but they thrash it and it doesnt seem to break.

on the hwy it used 20-25L per 100 loaded up, so more on gas.

but these issues will be the same on both brands.
*there's a rock, drive over it :) there's a bigger rock, drive over it  there's an even bigger rock, oops broke it  Upgrade broken bit :bad-words:
