Query on throttle body sizes and gas mixers

Post by simcoe »

Hi all,
well it's almost time for the 5.0l to be put in the GU!(tues)
now im just after some info regarding the size of the throttle body and it's relation to the size of the mixer and whether or not performance will suffer??

the current throttle body is 72mm internal size and the gas mixer(sprint) which is a brand new one that was going to go on my tb45 is 44mm intenal size.
im only thinking about using it coz it fits strait on the 5.0l and surely it should supply enough fuel correctly!

Q-is the 5.0l gas mixer any bigger in internal size?

Q-will the size of the mixer effectivley cancel out the need/use for a snorkle to get more air to the engine?(getting one anyway for water crossings! just interested in hearing some views!)

option 1-should i look for a larger throttle body(been told i can get one 10mm bigger and get a mixer to suit that?!
option 2-should i stick to what i got?

tell me what you reckon all you lpg guru's out there ;)

cheers

Simple mixers are rubbish. The 5.0l stock throttle body isn't big enough, they will make 10-15 more kW with a JHP or similar larger throttle body on a stock motor. A Gasresearch Carby will give similar to petrol performance on duel fuel, vapour injection will also, any mixer simple or complex, will cause a power loss on any engine to varying degrees.
