changing the thermostat on my new engine and i broke the rear bolt on my td 42 have taken the whole housing off not but the bolt was broken in the timing cover.. tried easy outs but no luck any other methods i can try??

this happened to me a few months ago i was spewin :P

so what i did was get an old nut i had lying around about the same thread size as the one broken off and i welded it to the broken stud in the head putting heaps of weld into the nut to get the thread nice n hot to burn off the rust then it came right out with a spanner
GQ LWB TD42, boost, lockers etc

If you get really stuck you could always try a broken bolt removal specialist (we have one in Brisbane called "Thread Tech"). These guys can get stuff out that nobody else can - they are the true meaning of the word "specialist"
