petrol to diesel conversion

i have a petrol 4.2 and was wanting to drop a diesel 4.2 in, i was wondering if the gearbox and engine mounts are the sam and any other problems i would run into. has anyone done it?

correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt it be easier and cheaper to sell the petrol then buy a diesel.

Electrics maybe. Different wiring loom, different instrument dash, vacuum plumbing AFAIK. If you have 3.9:1 diffs, you might not be happy with them either.

I did this conversion to my gq ute. The instiment cluster wiring,all engine wiring ,radiator outlets airconditioning pump and lines,flywheel and clutch, vacuum tank and plumbing all have to be changed, i got a full harness with the engine from the wreckers .All up it cost me including a new denco turbo kit $8500 and tripled my fuel econemy
