No results until a presentation in a couple of weeks as the rain came again and we had to have a mass exit to get trucks and caravans out. A little bit of controversy as the event was shut down at 2.30 as was stated this morning and half a dozen cars didn't get to run a stage which may have altered the top ten placings? In mooneys defence he was told by the property owner that rain was coming and that he should think seriously about getting the spectators out. That was early afternoon when it was too late to do much about it!

just got back
the weekend was good and pretty well run,
there was a fair bit of carnage as already stated on the first stage friday night clive smashed his auto which was nothing more than really bad luck,

al mac was having winch troubles on saturday and did some quick stages on sunday,

sharpy smashed his car on the last stage on saturday night and called it quits until he saw the placings on sunday morning and did a mad rush to get his car running he completed 1 stage on sunday but on the 2nd he snapped a control arm and pierced his sump during his attempts to please the crowd

scotty mcgill blew his front diff , winch and broke a rear axle on his last stage on saturday and called it quits on sunday

thats all i can think of at the moment ill post more after ive had some sleep

p.s cheers to mooney for running a damn good event, in his defence he did say on sunday morning that if you havent finished all the stages by 2:30 tough
which is fair enough cause if he didnt the spectators would of been there till about 4 and noone would be getting off that property tonight with the rains

We (Clive and myself, RaceGQ) had a short weekend, hit a tree friday night and broke a radius arm, pushing the drive shaft into the gearbox, out for the weekend. Bit of a shame, the tracks looked great and the rain made sure everything was nice a wet!

I hate people who bag events that dont have a go at running one themselves.
But I hope there is a good decision made by the ccda to what happened to the stage that was closed at 2:30, if this is a ccda rule then i think mabey they need to have a think about a better solution that is fair to all compeditors with the closing of the stage.
I spent a lot of money time and tears building and changing a car to finely finish an event mabey in the top 5 to be told i cant finish the last stage that have would of taken 1\2 h at the most for all the cars there to finish.

great job Mooney and all that helped i hope this rule can be change for not just the indevidual but the future of the sport.

I know that properties are hard to find to run these events on. But i think that these sorts of issues where the specatators had to be out at by certain time otherwise they risked being stuck there all night and competitors not being able to finsih the stages because of having to clear the property by a certain time all because of incoming weather predictions. All these issues just make it clear that the property used is not suitable for this kind of event at this time of the year. it put too many restrictions on the racers and crowd. From what i hear the competitors loved the course. This is the hardest one of the series. If it must be used in the series then either dont let the public attend so the competitirs can finish all the stages off or if you want them to attend (obviously for income this is the better option) then transport them in and out or make them walk down to the race coarse. And on this property its a big ask to get spectators to walk for 1/2 hour to get down to the coarse let alone walk up hill for that long to get back to there car.
As far as this weekends event go. Cant CCDA just remove the points earnt by everyone on the stages that werent finsished by everyone.
So if i was stage 9 say that wasnt finsihed by everyone cause of the time constraint then noone gets points for that stage. Wether you did it or not. I am sure from a competitors point of view this raises another set of issues but as we all know you cant make everybody happy all of the time just some of the people happy some of the time.

As Jason and i were sitting around drinking away our sorrows due to a winch issue we came up with a solution to cut the time down, simply do a top 15 or 20 shoot out on the last day, the cars which will be cut are not going to have any bearing on the top placings anyway. If at the end of the day it helps the event finish on time we are all winners.

As far as the event goes, Mooney and Neil fantastic, stages tested the drivers, navis and vehicles to their limits, what more can anyone ask for, just wish we could have done all those stages ourselves.

We had a great weekend, stages were the hardest ive seen in victoria. I think that for those competitors who are waiting at the start of the stage and cant do the stage because they run out of daylight then they should be given an average of their score up to that stage. So if you are a top competitor you would have a high average, if you were a bottom competitor, you would have a lower average. This is a fair outcome for everyone, and only applies to those who are there waiting to do the stage, not those who choose not to do it coz its too hard or are fixing their cars and didnt make it to the start line.
As far as sunday went, Id hate to be in the event managments shoes atm. This will be hard to resolve as it was the top group that was involved.
All in all an excellent weekend, well catered for and great weather for a winch challenge!

Putting aside the issues that faced many in the last hour of the event, I have had the best 4x4 weekend ever. Just like finding 12 new killer tracks in the bush. It was hard going but by no means impossible. Thanks to Coops and all the people involved in making these tracks challenging. Last week I went to the working bee and walked around thinking that it was too early in the year as it was dry and dusty. Then the rain came and changed the tracks dramatically.

Thanks for the great weekend to all the organizer's and marshal's, Jaey and i had a ball in the big purple gu, the tracks were the best i've ever been on, thanks Coop's. Thanks to all the production cars for the great challange and a bigger thanks to paul from patrolapart in the red shorty, we had a great battle the whole weekend, with only few points between us. It will be good to see who ended up on top as points have not been calculated as yet, as metioned above

What a weekend!!!!!!!! This was our first full on winch challange and man it was awesome. We did vic winch at bulla but this event chucked things at us that we have never tackled before and it was a great oppertunity to learn. Every one was great and more than happy to stop and have a chat or offer advise. Mooney and Coops.... you guys put on a great event and thanks HEAPS!!!!!! Three groups of 12 cars on Sunday shouldn't have caused too many problems to get them through in the time constraints.

I can understand that getting spectators to leave at 2:30 if there was still competitors running would have been near impossible. I know of a few people that were spectating that left at 1:30 - 2:30 as they were concerned about getting there cars out if it rained. I hope that everyone got out period as it took over 30mins to get up the drive due to people being dragged up that were stuck.

The breifing at the start of the day was clear, everything getting closed at 2:30pm. The focus at that stage was that if you broke and repaired the car you might miss out, or if you ran stage 6 from the saturday stages and got delayed you might miss out.

When only the top 5 of the top group get to run because one stage was backlogged, thats where it gets tricky ...

I know that at least the next few cars had not had to make repairs that day and were waiting in order to begin when it was stopped. What happens to the results from that stage will be seen when the results are released. Lets hope it doesn't mess with the socres of teams that would have had a chance of getting up for a top finish.

Maybe they do need to look at a situation as listed above, where the top cars make the cut, and the lower cars miss out or give precidence to the top groups.

All up, was one of the best run events that I have been able to attend, excellent tracks, and the weather topped it off. Congrats to Mooney and all others.

g,day its nathan car 32 twin cab silver patrol,awesome weekend,the best tracks i think i have ever attempted,i gave it my best come out with heaps of carnage but still drove the car home.coops and mooney you guys have excelled yourselves again, top job and well done.
to the rest of the drivers and navi's it was great to drive with you guys.
the guys that missed out on the stages why cant they open up that stage on a sat or sunday b4 presentation and let them do it.some people are saying the lower class guys should throw the towel in so the bigger boys can finish,the lower boys pay the same price to enter

we are able to extend the dnf on tracks so why if need be cant we shorten them to get all trucks through. you either make it or you dont within a time but at the end of the day you get a run. if you make the call half way through the day you can make up an hour or two with out a problem.

the rule has been around for years. I first introduced the concept at the Romsey ateco in I think 2003. Fortunately since then it hasn't been needed because events have generally had dry weekends to run on.

The rule allows events to finish on time so that people can pack up and get away at a reasonable hour. Just because the racing stops doesn't mean all the work is done.

Think of Sunday's racing like finals. You have to qualify to compete. If you don't qualify your continued participation is at the discretion of the gods hmmmmfh event management.

barry and myself were placed 4th & 5th on sat morning we were at stage 6 at 2pm waited to '3:30 then were told to do 8 and 9 did them both then came back to 6 at 5:00 got in the start box a 7:10 at 7:30 was told the stage was closed .
Got told to b ready to leave came at 7:15. Did that done the stage got told we all had to stay behind to help benny russell recover in the spirit ccda , (which we would have done for ben anyway).

rushed back to H.Q. put back into points order which was 7th & 8th did 12 then ten in order with the group waited at stage 11 for 1 1\2 h for to b told we carnt do that stage as well, we were not told about the 2:00pm stop as for we were a stage 6 helping out benny.

with the stage 6 points which would have place us about 4th and 5th we were very up set that we would have nothing but 20 point for stage 11 this would not just take the places we worked for all weekend but stop us from completing our first comp in 12 months.

so in the spirit of the ccda make it fair on everyone.

Reading with interest, looked like a great event, typicial Mooney & Coops.


I only run 10 SS at the Xtreme Events;

3 SS Friday night, start order is lucky draw.

5 SS Saturday, Teams are placed in 5 Groups as per running order and rotate around the 5 SS.

To be able to finish at 2 or 3 on Sunday the Top 10 Teams run the last 2 SS split into 2 groups competing in SS 9 & 10 then swap, after this the rest of the field as per running orded is split into 2 and compete in the last 2 SS. Yes we have had at times not completed the field over the last 2 SS, but all Teams have got to do 9 before cut off time, but at least the TOP 10 have run all SS.
