What are the modifications needed to achieve a 2 inch body lift ?
Such as brake and fuel lines, air duct from pre filter to final filter and radiator.

hey,
is easy as pie.
1. will need new air pipe that goes between the pre filter and main filter.
2. have to undo ur clutch and brake lines where they mount to the body and re mount them.
3. will have to adjust the fuel filler hose ( standard one will fit )
4. loosen off steering bolt on the shaft ( just before the box ) if its only 2 inch u will not need a longer steering rod
5. have to adjust the bottom half of ur fan shroud
6. breathers need to be unbolted from body and re mounted
7. you will have to cut 2 little holes over the top of the 2 rear body mounts do u can drill the holes out and fit new bolts ( standard ones have a different size diameter thread to the rest of bolt, that u cant buy )
There is a welded nut in there too.
8. might have to modify the floor to get ur gear stick to go into low 4, though u can also bend the stick.
think thats the major things covered.
other than that as long as u know how to do the job itself then these things are all u need to check.

on my old MQ i used the original captive nuts, just used some effort and visited the bolt shop and picked up the right ones, its really not that hard.
also when i did theis the only things i changed/ajjusted was the fuel filler line, which i just lenghtened, and the flexible clutch line which i had a 2"longwer item made up,
brake lines didnt bother me, as they are coiled between the body and chassis, they just streched, out a bit, there was no problem.
all 8 ( including the rear bolts ) are same length and size.
just get 8 new ones that are 2 inches longer with nylon lock nuts and drill out the rear 2 holes so u can get the new nut on the end. ( u will need to cut 2 little holes at the top of the bolts to drop the bolt through )

but if you can use the right ones in the verry back, there is a chance where you will not need to drill through to use nuts as there are captive nuts already there!
Yeah, this is true indeed, i had a large amount of trouble sourcing the bolts that fitted with the rear perfect is all and they were expensive even if i could wait for em, so wat i did is get the same thickness and drill through. was an easy and effect solution

I have done 4 or 5 lifts on mq and mk's and have never been able to use the captive nuts on the rear mounts so just do as screwy says and cut/drill them out and save some grief.

by the way the rear bolts are 12 x 1.25mm metric can't remember the length though.
I recently did a 52mm lift on my MQ. Have a look in my Members section, I've got it all doco'ed there. Was very easy - I didn't have to worry about clutch cable / air pipes (no snorkel) and the rear bolts were a piece of cake. Diff breathers and brake lines all stretched without issue. The dude that owned it before me had already cut the holes above the rear bolts, and I simply undid the bolts. I think they had been played with before, because they were a lot less corroded than the other 6.
Important note though - undoing the bolt on the steering spline may not be enough! That's all I did, and it didn't appear to move far, if at all. It turned out that even with the bolts loosened, the yoke was on the spline very tight and didn't slide. That resulted in the rubber in the yoke tearing, and the yoke falling apart half way up Slippery Rock Road yesterday.

Oh, beefie, two other things:
Don't get frustrated if noone replies. A lot of the guys on here go 4wd'ing on the weekend, and wont see you post for a day or two. You also asked a FAQ without showing that you'd researched at all first - that's frustrating to the regulars. Complaining while being new to the board may not win you a lot of respect. I doubt too much harm has been done in this case though.
The other thing is that I just noticed you are from Newcastle. You are welcome to drop around to have a look at my body lift it you like, seeing it is still fairly fresh in my mind. I might even be happy to give you a hand, if that would be of use. PM me if interested.

Doc, I had no dramas with mine, I just popped into the bolt shop and told them what i wanted... and the captive's are still in use
You guys were lucky, i couldnt get the bolts, but either way the solution is a 5 minute one. You shouldnt have a drama in the world

the rear bolts are loctited in and if you heat the captive nuts with the oxy they will come loose easy.
just wrap some wet rags around the access holes and while someone holds tension on the bolt from underneath you just poke the oxy down the hole until it comes loose.
check out bogged's site for info on the GQ lift as a lot is the same.

Mate ive just officially proven that u dont need dollars 2 do a SOA, just good mates, some time, and someone who is an expert in wat he does best
Barely cost me a sent and only did it a month ago. Body lift looks good, did the same to mine for the first bit of lift but i had to nut it out myself, now it seems like i finally get to give some advice
