any one know if you can get checked ova the pits voluntarily
Gday
went to ge parts of my 4runner engineered the other day as its not fully complete. was told that there is a good chance the rta will want it taken over the pits. if this does happen there is a good chance depending if i get a F*&kwit or not, that i will be knocked back on lift, track, blah blah,.. and depending how they interprate the ncops/ state regs etc. does any one have contact details of a rta inspector or have themselves been over the pits on the central coast-newcastle area? i was advised by this particular engineer to try and go over and see what they say before he writes one up and have it torn up etc.
cheers

apparently he is in the shit with the rta over a few mini trucks and saves the shit fight if the rta see the vehicle first? i dont really want to go down that path if possible just want to be able to drive the bloody thing? any one know a reputable engineer they have had there modded 4by done by around newcastle / central coast. cheers
Why would it need to go over the pits? Is it a repaired write off or something?
Don't see why it would need to be inspected by the RTA at all. It's normally a matter of getting engineers report and weigh bridge cert, then take the papers to the checkout chick at the RTA.
If you're up there and are building the truck properly, you should be using Mullen Automotive as an engineer. The RTA loves him, because he doesn't do dodgeys.

no worries mate, il give that mullens bloke a ring, i was told by this particular engineer that due to the mods completed he believes that the rta will want to inspect it. i thought that was the job of the engineer though? cant see the point in spending $1000 + for a bit of paper that will just be torn up or questioned by the police.
Yeah give Athol a ring, business name is Mullen Automotive Engineering, at Cardiff. He's also a lot cheaper than everyone else, I drive from West Syd to use him.
You're right, the engineer is the person to do the reports/inspection. Considering what it takes to become an Automotive Engineer, whoever you spoke to doesn't sound like he has much of a clue.
