chromoly front axles
chromoly front axles
I have been thinking about buying a set of chromoly cv's and axles for my zook. I just have 1 question a know i need rear side gears (26 spline)
I already have a lockright lokka in the front and wanted to know whether i would need a new one or can i get the side gears for it.
cheers jesse

Wouldn't a rear lockright with couplers fit in the front fine with a set of 26 spline axles anyway?zooker wrote:Only rear lockers can use couplers. All front lockrites dont have couplers

yep it sure will
but his problem is that he has one in the front on 22 spline stock axles
so he will need rear side gears to use it with his new 26 spline HD axles.
85 high roof 1.3, 6.5 tc, air lockers, ruf and 34 swampers. yep its an ugly pos.
So you defo need to find a rear center and put it in the front if you want to run chromos??? This is good info i nearly bought a lock right and planed for some beffies later... Wow research does save money

For the front end as far as I am aware these are your options...zookster666 wrote:ok so i will need a new locker is that right?? unless it uses standard side gears. ill have to have a look at that. thanks for the replies and info. cheers jesse.
1. Locker without couplers and stock axles.
2. Locker without couplers, cromo axles and using rear 26 spline side gears.
3. Locker without couplers installed in a rear centre and cromo axles
4. Locker with couplers and cromo axles.

Another question, when running a 26 spline chromoly, what air locker would you use in the front? I'm guessing it would be the RD88 (i think). Which is usually for the rear? Is there any modifications which have to be done to the center or locker to get it to work in the front?

the actual price of the two main sidegears has not changed. its the addition of four matched spider gears to the kit that adds to the cost.cj wrote:Yes, use the rear. You can use a front one and swap in 26 spline sidegears but since ARB changed their sidegear pricing it is a pretty expensive option now.

Yes, I know they have added the other parts which has added around $200 to the price. You say the sidegear price hasn't changed but you can't just buy the sidegears anymore.joeblow wrote:the actual price of the two main sidegears has not changed. its the addition of four matched spider gears to the kit that adds to the cost.cj wrote:Yes, use the rear.
