alloy welding - Sydney???

Post by Nev62 »

Anyone in Sydney that does alloy welding?? I was bolting on the water /thermostat crossover pipe onto new heads and it has cracked next to one of the bolts. Now I have to either get it welded or find another one (GM 6.5 V8 diesel).

I noticed this right before I noticed fuel flowing from one of the injector (managed to bend and crack one of the fuel return nipples  )

Thanks, it is a start. I will see if I can get a secondhand/new one first on Tuesday. My luck of late with this engine sucks, cracked both heads, have to make a new mount for the power steering then bent/cracked a fuel retun nipple on an injector while I was putting it in this arvo and the icing on the cake was to fill it with water just to have the vally start to fill thanks to the cracked crossover/thermostat pipe.

I have to work out a way to seal up the cracked nipple as I can still use the injector on 7 or 8 as only one of the two fuel return nipples are used that the other is normally blocked off with a peice of hose (maybe snap the nipple off and use a tiny self tapper with salastic in the hole???).
