gaurd cutting

Post by easeupturbo »

howdy i want to keep my zook pretty low i'm gunna chuck some 31s on and 2'' shackels if i cut the piss out of the gaurds will it clear the tyres , i'm thinking of just plain cutting the inside of the front gaurds out and putting some rubber in there and cutting the floor of the tub out or just the wheel arcs (tubs in the tray)

any advice or pics of how some are done?

I run 31's on my zook i run approx 3 inch lift 2'' spring and 1'' shackle my tyres dont scrub. The front has been cut and run a half ruf in the front which moves the diff about an inch forward.

My girlfriends lwb runs 31's with 2'' spring and 2'' body lift and we get some scrubbing on the fire wall at full compression when on full lock but nothing to worry about

if you do a ruf conversion you will clear 31's and get about 1.5'' to 2'' lift out of stock rears and you can if you get minor scrubbing massage the inner guards

hope this helps cheers jesse

There you go 32's. Our 31's only rub on the small ridge on the front inner guards on full lock when fully compressed. We just hammered the ridge down and it dont rub any more.

REALLY? My old NT spook had 3" spring and 2" body, 32x10.5 mongrels on 15x5.5 sunrasia rims. rubbed one full lock under compression and in the read on full compression (read: bounced into bump stop).

X2 i ran a 50mm BL, 31s and shackles for bout a year. I only had to bash back one seem. Im going against the flow here. Do a 50mmBL. It means you don't have to cut guards and if you do this then you can raise the TCase 50mm also which makes it a flat belly and that gets the alloy lump of stop out of harms way. If you went 75mm BL then itll only go into 2nd,4th,reverse...lol but you just want to cut guards huh...

yeah im not sure either it must be farking close. He's hammered the seems over in the fire wall area and cut bumper outrigger off.
there was talk of hammering the guard seams a little but im no sure if this happened.
im 100% positive that trere is no scrubbing as ive traveled in it a few time is quite a capable 4x4 as it is, the only other mods are 6.5 gears and front and rear lockrights.
