Dual transfer case problem

Post by SHANE055 »

I've started putting dual transfer cases into my 03 hilux I bought the cases second hand already assembled they're both top shift except the selector in the front case is from a front shift case so it protrudes through the adaptor plate that i'm using to mate the gear driven cases up to my r151 box the problem is that the cases came with no shifters and the finger that comes out of my transfer lever is only about 32mm but needs to be about 42-45mm to engauge in the selector key. My question is does anyone know if the shifter out of an older front shift have a longer finger or does anyone have another suggestion

You need a piece of a 4140 or at least a grade 8.8 bolt just the shank no thread to extend the current lever by 16mm just cut the lever you have and join this 16mm piece to it and you have the longer finger to into the housing. Make sure you grind or machine a good champher on both sides of the 16mm piece and the old lever so you get a nice good weld then just clean it up with a grinder and off you go. Make sure you cut the finger closer to th3e top so it is thicker just dont get to close to the ball it sits on.
