My cruiser has a UHF and working cruise control, not sure why a UHF would stop the cruise working. First thing I would check is the switches on the brake and clutch pedals (if manual) if these are faulty cruise won't work. Not sure where you would go from there, maybe someone else will have a better suggestion. Does the cruise light on the dash light up when you turn cruise on before you set your speed?

The cruise control on my 1992 Land Cruiser stopped working. The light comes on, but I cannot set the cruise speed...(after attempting to set it and letting up on the accelerator pedal the LC just slows down!).

Did you ever figure out how to fix yours?

stating the obvious here

but you have to push the button in to turn it on first, then pull down or backwards eg slow down on the lever to set it then take your foot off the accelerator

as said most likely to be the brake or clutch pedal switch

It could also be the control stalk, but check the basics first

Thanks Mis Forby.
The light comes on on the dash that says "Cruise", but setting the speed (down or up on the lever) does not work. After attempting to do it the Land Cruiser just slows down when the accelerator pedal is released.

Thanks. It's 1992 with an automatic transmission, so I'll look for the brake pedal switch. That's not the same switch that turns on the brake lights, is it?

In any case, can you suggest an easy way to test the switch when I find it?

Thank you,
G.

ok yeah no clutch switch the normal brake switch has an extra set of contacts also the switch will be blue instead of brown

the cruise uses both the contacts the extra dedicated ones (normally closed with foot off brake)are used for the power for the actuator

(the normally open ones foot off brake) are used as a double check for the cruise computer it watches the output

if you can get to the cruise actuator there is wire with a red with green trace this should have power on it with the brake pedal not depressed while the cruise is selected on when driving
this wire controls the clutch inside the cruise actuator

best way is to rig a test light up with the actuator still connected but using the light to monitor what is going on.

cheers
