My Hub bolts keep coming apart or braking bolts

Post by 31zook »

Not the little bolts that keep the selector in place but one set deeper is the bolts im talking about. I was going round to clean my car and all the bolts on my passengers side had fallen out... like this

So i divided up the stash of bolts i had on the drivers side and ran 3 in each hub. I bought bigger tyres and now i have sheared off the passengers side... pain in the butt much... Does anyone know of a shop that sells these funky bolts and cone thingo? Does this happen to others? Im a little over 2wding...

i had the same problem not long ago but fixed it by replacing them with 12.9 allen head cap bolts i got from the local coventrys fastners shop.I also used the cones from the rear of a 75 series cruiser because the suzuki dealer didnt have any in stock at the time.

going to bigger bolts is just covering up the cause though - you're best to diagnose whats causing the failure... if its driving style (like nicbeer) then thats not going to change... but its worth finding the cause before beefing it up and finding the next thing in line busting.

Keep them tight, check them whenever you gop wheeling. If you loose one or two, chances are you will break the rest quick smart. I have run bigger tyres with no problem, and my brother runs 33 boggers with no problem.
