80 Series steering adjustment?????

Post by Jeff80 »

Hey outers oracle,
Just wondering if you can adjust the play in the steering on an 80 series. There seems to be a fair bit of movement and wondering if I can adjust it. Its a 93 petrol.

Cheers.

There isnt really anything you can adjust freeplay out of apart from the steering box itself. You need to find out where the freeplay is first, chances are its a tie rod/drag link end that needs to be replaced.

get someone to rock the steering back and forth and you will see where the movement is pretty quickly.

You can adjust the box slightly to remove some freeplay, but if the box is worn you wont be able to take much of the freeplay out.

Best hoping its a tierod or something.
