Very annoying interior light flicking over bumps

Post by TheOtherLeft »

Over the last several months my interior light flickers randomly when going over corrugations/bumps. The switch is set on "door".

Has anyone else experienced it? Could it be an earthing problem somewhere? I don't think it's at the door???

Cheers,

Turn the light switch off (no door) and see if it still does it.

I dont know if its the same on a suzuki, but my old crummydore did the same thing, the door switch needed to be earthed properly or the light would flicker, check that the switch is screwed in properly.

I tried it tonight with the light switch set to OFF, so no door switch. It doesn't flicker anymore so it seems to be the door switch. Good call :)

I might now check all the door switches. Is it the simple case of a lose switch???

I've never pulled a door switch out. I'm sure when you pull it out you'll soon work out the problem.

my suggestion would be WD40 right into the back of the door switch. its likely getting stuck so that it doesnt fully engage, thus causing a circuit and making the light activate.

Take the globe out :D

Or as above check the door switches. Pop them out and make sure the crimplug is tight and not able to earth out on the body
You can get new switches from Jaycar for like 5 bucks

Disconect the rear tale gate switch most of the time grandys have the problem there but check the door jam adjust if a door sits out can cause the light to flicker.
Have had a couple grandys that have had heavy set drivers and the seat flexes and crushes the wireing that could cause it but most the time trips the elec windows for some reason.

Thanks for that. I'm having problems with the rear door atm due to handle breaking and latch mechanism rattling. I'm thinking the flickering is the rear door as well.
