broken seat mounts
hi guys i have just found that floor is crack and torn open around my seat mounts what have other people done to fix this or stregthen it so it doesnt happen again. cause i reckon 100kgs on a suspenion seat aint helping this proplem. and no i dont want to get rid the susepension seats
HZJ73, lifted, crawler gears, double locked, sitting on 35's
My 73 had the 2 rear mounts on the drivers seat ripped free and a cracked floor when I got it.
Definately not from hard driving ,just the seat mount bolts had come loose allowing momentum to build up and work at the mountings until they broke free with the PO welding repairs doing more damage than good .
I took them to a body builder who mig/tig welded (I cant remember which) and put a small patch over the worst hole where the PO had blown holes in with a welder.
I think once they are fixed properly they shouldnt need any extra unless your doing it hard offroad.I dont know if your suspension seat which only moves up and down would require any reinforcing on the floor.
I also understand this is common with 70 series.
