60series diffs for 95 Leaf luxy
I've got a few 60 series diffs layin around and wondering if they'd be worth putting in my 95model leaf sprung luxy seeing as there wider and stronger. Also would like set it up for coils in the rear.. i no its alot of work and the 80 series rear diffs are already set up for coils but i cant see it being to much more work putting coils on and 60 series diff??
And seeing as i have the 60 series diffs sitting around why not?
pretty much just after some general info on putting 60 series diffs in a luxy and further more coils in the rear. hopefully someone has done it before and can give me some details and maybe even some pics of the build.
I no everyone will have some input and all info is welcome, fukn love this site.. Cheers, HTH

done this to an 84 model if you want pics or have questions just ask....
much stronger than the 8" genades in the lux diffs better ride and the 4.1 ratios are awesome off road

front diff used the mounts that are there already rear used some 5mm rhs cut down and shaped to suit the axle tubes.(still running leafs)
only real difference in the 80 diffs is the disc brake rear i think the pinion is more center but cant remember.
coil mounts are piss easy to fab yourself or cut em off something else thats cheap(falcon/dunnydore diff???)
ill take some pics tomorrow and pm them for ya

yeh ive got a mate thats a fitter machinest prob give him a slab of beer and get him to fab me some mounts up..
only want 2 coil the rear in the near future as the front seems like alot more work and im not after anything crazy just a little more flex.
do you have a 5 link set up in the rear?
any big dramas with the brake lines, tail shafts etc??
will be awaiting pics of your set up.. much appreciated.

used a one peice tail shaft(custom) and scrapped the original fuel tank (and the long range one i had too ) ended up using a standard tank from a mq swb mounted to underside of tray.
this left room at the back for gas tanks should i ever get off my arse and fit it up.

I am guessing cause the diff of a 60 is offset, the fuel tank would be in the way regardless.HTH wrote:Did u have to move the fuel tank to fit the one piece tailshaft?
because id rather not if i didnt have to.
maybe i could just mod the tank to suit?

try here
80 series diffs but virtually the same idea.
He flips the 80 series diff over to get a better alignment for the tailshaft. Alot of work, but probably worth it.

Just had a look at my hilux diff and the 60 series diff next to each other and as ive been told the offset of the 60series diff would make my fuel tank directly in the line of where my tailshaft would run..
but if i was to flip the diff the only thing i would need to move (maybe) is the exhaust.. and as im currently setting the 3L up for a turbo the exhaust will being upgraded so i could just make 2 suit..
(1) the offset of the diff to tailshaft is a fair bit 200mm+ >> would this be a problem??
(2) Are there any unforseen problems with flipping the diff?? as i would like to keep my fuel tank where it is (least work possible).
..HTH..
