Lifting cab off

Post by MissDrew »

What does everybody do here, just get 4 or 6 people to help or do you go to other means.

I plan to pull glass as it has to come out away to straighten passenges A pillar and for respray. Remove doors, guards and bonnett all of these are getting replaced anyway. Then I`ll just get 3 other blokes around and lifting we go. But if you have a easier way then by all means tell me. No I don`t have a hoist yet

can you use a block and tackle off the trusses in the roof of your shed?

Lift it using straps through the door/window openings then just roll the chassis away from under it.

do you have a winch? have a winch block in a tree and get a mate with a winch. 4 blokes should lift just the cab. even if yous all lift it up and get someone else to hook it onto the shed/tree then wheel the chassis out from under it like mick said.

Ya I like micks idea as I have heeps of height in my shed and it has some big beams up there to :D only problem is the block and tackle just went back to Daz`s place in shepparton  will just have to wait untill he has finished with it then get it back again.

Might use 2 big straps under the floor instead of throught the windows but.

I have lifted a few cabs off just using a tree trunk protector through the roof and a short chain just down to the front to keep it level. They are not heavy and you wont damage it lifting it this way. Block and tackle is the easy way.
