Cummins are heavy and tall... you'll need lots of lift and beefier front suspension... for more info go to www.4btswaps.com. it's an American site so some of the gearboxs etc that they talk about might be hard to find in OZ...

Didn't Roothy give up on putting one in his 40 series ute. I recall talk that he posted on the 4wd action forum to allert/tell the guys because ther was talk of people following him. Proved to be very painful and mostly very hard to ge the truck handling due to the excessive weight which was off centre or something.
Don't quote me but might be work investigating. Was never something I was interested in so I only gave it a glancing look at the time.He wanted to alert them now in case someone wanted to follow him and due to magazine deadlines etc the article where he pulled the pin would not be out for some time yet.

When I was in Kalgoorlie, the field service boys at cummins diesel had 6bt's in a few of their 75 series. Only heard second hand but apparently had trouble getting clutches and gearboxes to last. I saw one at a mine expo - there wasn't much room in the engine bay left. Apparently didnt go much over 110 but it didn't matter what they were towing they still only done about that 110.
probably would want a h150 and an overdrive unittrev1 wrote:When I was in Kalgoorlie, the field service boys at cummins diesel had 6bt's in a few of their 75 series. the h150 is a much stronger gearbox that was used in the 80 series , turbo 79 , turbo and petrol100 series and new v8 70 series75hearttransplant wrote:oh k cheers guys yeah i think it would be to much effort now. wat isthe h150 motor you mentioned
the 75 still had the smaller older design like the sixty series even in the later models
the h150 would have the best chance at holding up against the 4bt/6bt
then i sugested the over drive to give it more legs at low rpm on the highway
