can i put 35 inch tyres on my vitara? 35x15,s dont worry its had a big lift and there is no arches just worried about the gearbox 1600cc 8valve manaul cheers, is anyone running there zuki,s on 35,s or bigger?
Yes, you can but would you want to? At the least you'll need some crawler gears in the t-case but at that tyre size you'd be better off looking at swapping in a Sierra t-case although the offset output is an issue. Mike Hagen ran 35"Krawlers for the Ultimate Adventure but he had the EFI engine, crawler gears and 5.83 diffs. He now runs 39.5's I think. The Toyota case has no real benefit as it still doesn't address high range and you'll still need to swap in crawler gears.

Yes you can, have a look at the Toperi Challenge Photos, trail tough gears, 8V engine, std diff ratios, but still has IFS.

with 31's and a welded diff i snapped axels all the time. always on rock in the bush.
like friday night then another on sunday, thats how close together i would snap them sometimes.
u need chromolly axels. to fix the prob i think. but then instead of axels being the weakest point u will prob have problems with blowing up gearboxes.

An auto and/or t-case gears may solve a lot of that or you learn how to drive within the limits of the car Calmini offer upgraded rear axles shafts for 1.6 Vits too.danssurf82 wrote:with 31's and a welded diff i snapped axels all the time. always on rock in the bush.

i think you will have 5:12
my car is to fast in low range with standard gearing and 235 so on 33 it would be shocking to drive in the bush.
the tc gears in a vit are only good for about 31 thats y you need the 5.83 if you were to run any think bigger.
ps you can get a kit from the states to run 4runner cv on the front which will handel 35 and then get calmini axel for the back but ! you might move the week point to diffs and gearbox.
dont run any thing with out getting a steel front diff out of a xl7 or you will tear it to shreads when you load it up
ps good luck a lot of guys in the states run 35- 37 on vits but they are crazy and have way to much $$$$$$
33 on your vit will be heaps
