HELP cant start my disco V8

I need help. I have a buggy with a 3.9l V8 out of a 96 model disco. Im new to these engines so any help would be great. The problem is I started to clean up all the wiring for all the winches and lights on the weekend and when I finished I started it to make sure I didnt remove any wires that were needed to start the thing. It started and ran fine. But I have been trying to start it since and it only turns over it doesnt start. Some times it sounds like its going to start but it doesnt. I cleaned the engine with a pressure washer as well. So is there something I should be looking at that I may have nocked off or something else. Any help would be good. Cheers Kym :cry:

Kym would this be the old Homeless buggy???
1st thing to look at would be the fuel pump. Is it running when the master switch is on? Has a wire come loose of the back of the switch panel. Or has a wire come loose off the battery.

Also try pressing down on the inertia switch button located behind the washer bottle in the engine bay. It might have tripped, this cuts of the fuel to stop it starting.
Also Is there spark at the plugs when you crank the engine?

If you've washed the engine, pull the dizzy cap off and blow it out with compressed air, make sure there is no water inside the cap.

Hey guys thanks for the input. Hey Jamie yeah it is. I have checked that and the fuel pump is running when I turn it on. I finaly did get it started with a little sprey of start ya barsted and it worked. The only thing now is that it seems to be running alittle ruff not bad bad ruff but noticeably different. When it was running before I washed it, it would start first go and would idle really smooth. Is there away of sealing the dizzy or pressurizing it or something and do you think it will return to normal or with I have to play with it abit more. I will have to look for this inertia botton as I havnt noticed one. What does it look like.

The inertia button is on a standed car buddy. Your buggy wouldnt have it.
Unless it does now have a washer bottle for the windscreen :rofl:
With that engine in your buggy from what i know of it when ever it ran a bit sick it would need new plugs and possibly new rotor button and cap. You could always just keep an eye on the rotor button as they have a habbit of crudding up very often.
Most of these issues youve had though would be from the water but it would be a good idea to give her a decent tune up anyways.

Hey Jamie I will let you know how it all turns out. It should be pritty good when finished with D60s rear steer and the like. I will be keeping the same engine in it until it dies then I will be putting in a 6 litre that I have lying around vroom vroom :twisted:. I am going to try and keep it as simlpe as possible though. Ill post up some pics when its done to. Thanks Kym

Just a thought but have you checked the air flow metre, Is it wet or partially dislodged, it only takes a poor contact and the engine will idle rough and i assume if wet will be the same. :?:
