On the weekend I ripped my driver’s side rear brake line clean off the car :cry: and the maxi drive wires and hose came clean off as well… damn sticks in bogholes!!

Anyway temporally fixed the problem by inserting a screw in the busted end in the T peace and slowed the leak… problem was I only had about 300ml of brake fluid on me at the time ( I am the only person I know that brings any with them ) which wasn’t any where near the amount I need to get any brake pressure back :cry: So thinking out side the square I decided to put auto fluid in rather then water or motor oil…… what a farking mistake that was I have since found out I now have to replace all the seals in my braking system including all of my brake hoses!!!

So where I am getting at is carry brake fluid with you ALWAYS remembering it can be used for manuals as well.

My question to yawl is - Should I have to replace all the rubber seals / hoses?

What other fluids could have been used to top / fill the breaking system in the case of an emergency?

So far I have –

Cooking oil
Water
Piss

What other do you fink?

You can use soapy water, remember the brakes will fade very quickly due to the low boiling point and I am told you can use glycol based coolant. I always carry 2 bottles of brake fluid after tearing the brake line off a Nissan years ago.

What a bugger!!!

I have heard that metho is a good substitute for brake fluid (don't quote me on this), but I agree with you here, brake fluid is a must for your off-road tool box for auto Rangies, but just as relevant on manual Rangies.

atf not good for seals and hoses.

Seals used in auto are nitrile.

Replace all.

Michael.

Get new hoses From Maltech.
Custom to the lth you want.
Mitsubishi 2010 NT DID Pajero wagon, Factory rear diff lock, Dual batteries, ARB bar, winch, Mt ATZ 4 rib tyres.
1986 RR.
Custom suspension links etc.
HSV 215 engine.
4.3 diffs.

well the atf is leaking out of EVERYWHERE after on 3 days... wow that shite is fullon!!

Ohh well get prices on new hoses and seals

I can climb but stopping might be an issue...

I have almost convince my self to cut a hole in the floor and use my feet...

I figure new shoes every few days would be cheap the LR brake lines and seals.. :rofl:
