But if you want 60 diffs you might need different arms?
Should of got in before the dollar went down, I got mine cheap as
'89 Hilux Single Cab - 3RZ, 35" Kreepy Krawlers, 4.88's, F & R Air lockers, RUF, Longfields, TG Highsteer, Highmount and no money
so high steer uses original steering arms?? just moved above the diff not in front..
do you have anymore pictures? if im using my 60series diffs i may have to get custom high steer mounts?
ps what is that plate on the bottom of ur diff?

No they dont use standard arms, you can use one, a stock sas hilux only has one, it uses a drag link down to the drivers tyre instead of the longer rod you use in hi steer/ x over. hi steer/xover steering boxs (ifs hilux boxs), push side to side to steer, so the rod runs to the pass wheel, standard steering pushs front to back to turn which uses a draglink and j arm funnily enough because its shaped like a j , have a look at yours and youll see what i mean.
Its a gusset to strengthen the housing, stops it bending dinting rah rah rah when its hung up on shiit or sliding over it.

Get the TG kit, you if you have power steering already, then you just need the power steering box from an IFS hilux/surf, mount it on the chassis, and off you go.HTH wrote:would love some more detailed pictures if anyone has some..
how much does this set up cost once all put together?
cheers ppl
So far it has cost me however much the TG kit was, I forget now but it wasn't much over $400 or so.
I got a IFS Box for $100 with lines and bits for a 4Y, which I am getting rid of, so hopefully will get some back so shouldn't be much for the box.
Needed a reservoir lines, and p/s pump mount which cost me $100 or so.
Plus got a pump for about $30.
And I have sold most of the old stuff so got a but of money back
If you want anymore pics, let me know and I will grab them

those arms that replace the old rod's are they custom made?
or did they come with the kit??
becuase if they come with the kit i dont no if they would b useful 2 me as i plan on putting 60series diffs in my lux... therefore maybe none of that highsteer gear would work..
what r your thoughts?
i havent studied the diffs yet to see how simular they are but both being toyota id say they are quite simular but i no the 60series is a little wider.
bringing me back to the rods (not being long enough).
MY BIGGEST QUESTION IS HOW IMPORTANT IS HIGHSTEER ARE THERE ANY OTHER CHEAPER WAYS TO STOP STEERING BIND, AS I ALREADY HAVE MY HANDS FULL WITH THE 60SERIES CONVERSION..

after buying that kit what would i need to complete the highsteer?
steering box off a diff hilux? my lux is already powersteering.
getting my head around all this stuff is so hard (being new 2 all of it)

Yeah just get a power steering box from a lux '98 up, you will need a mounting kit, or make your own plates and have to drill 2 holes in the chassis and weld the plates on.HTH wrote:seems like im up for a fair bit of dosh no matter what.. 60series is a bit more expensive tho isnt it..

The drill but alone is $60 odd might be cheaper to get a holesaw
Might be easier just to stay with lux diffs and get Longfields and rims with a bit of an offset
'89 Hilux Single Cab - 3RZ, 35" Kreepy Krawlers, 4.88's, F & R Air lockers, RUF, Longfields, TG Highsteer, Highmount and no money
is it the size of the drill that makes it expensive??
well looks like ive got some serious thinking 2 do..
and probably alot of money 2 spend before my lux is back on the road.
i guess its good timing seeing i lost my license for 9months haha.
Cheers for your help mate ill be in touch, probably have some more annoying Q's for ya.

No stress, yeah cause of the size of it, if you were in Melbourne I'd lend you mine.HTH wrote:is it the size of the drill that makes it expensive??

Could just get a holesaw would be half the price.
I just have -44 offset rims and 12.5 wide rims, and mine is wide enough for me.
Defiantly think about it.

probably best im not in melbourne cause im prone to breaking shit haha.
its more of a strength thing putting in the 60's diffs.. but the width is an added bonus.
if i could get access to a highsteer kit i could prob get my mate thats a fitter machinest to make it all up for me for a shitload cheaper...
are all solid front toyota's prone to binding steering/springs
mine only started doing it when i put extended shackles in (2inchs i think)
out of all the lifted hiluxs ive looked at forsale i dont remember any having high steer.. maybe they just delt with the binding..
but at some stages mine has stopped me from being able to turn
flexing one way so the steering rod is fully behind the U BOLTS.
frustrating to say the least. did your bind before you installed highsteer?

No, I didn't want to risk doing anything like that so I just got some slightly smaller shocks to limit the downtravel.HTH wrote:probably best im not in melbourne cause im prone to breaking shit haha.

I still haven't got the high steer completed yet so don't know how much more I can get yet

Doesn't matter, I had the diff out when I decided to do it, so didn't know if it was going to hit the sump or notAHF01U wrote:Quick question Weiner,
is the gusset meant to be on the top or the bottomof the diff?
