my offsider at works flatmates car he blew rear main seal over a year ago & its just sat there since i offered 300 & he took it will post pics its preety good nick really besides a couple of things but plenty of time to get em sorted
What sort of engine? I am assuming its a Z24, they can have rattly timing chains & prone to blown head gaskets but both are easily fixed. I have replaced many of them with linked chains if the guides are OK. Just make sure you stop the tensioner from falling out or you you will be in a world of hurt.
The front diffs are a bit weak but only if punished, most of them last the life of the car.
Apart from that they have a pretty tough chassis & body. Body can be prone to rust but that was everything built up until about 88 that cam from Japan.
Most other stuff you will see like trim, door seals ect.
Not a bad old truck except for the lack of power. Needed a V6 from the start.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.
Well they are all following you...
No they ain't, I'm just in front...............
definately needs more power, haven't managed to break anything on it yet, it still kicks over first start. the alternator is in a bad spot though, prone to filling with mud and gunk :(
After having it for a while now, i think that it is a fairly nice soft roader, its capable as an ifs can be, but i think the trans is starting to go in mine, i've been a bit rough with it over the years.
fixed clutch & brakes everything working , even the electric sunroof pulled all the seats & carpet out found one rust hole the size of a 20c piece. motor runs sweet no rattles at all dropping out gearbox in the morning to replace seal, cheers for the help & kind words she is over the moon.
Sounds like a sweet deal, for $300 you can't go wrong and by the sounds of it you know your shit. And any way, like was said earlier, at least it's not a commodore or something, should be good. Not surprised she's over the moon about, and her opinion of it is the only one that actually counts anyway isn't it?

if its anything like mine it will cause the 4wd bug to bite
she had a few goes in my old shorty mav
loves the mud, already asked if we'll fit 33's on it,i said we'll have to grind the guards out she said
pulled the box out found out why the leak is so severe hed spat the lower bearing in the front of the bell housing threw its cover picked up a new cover today for $50 + a bearing for $31,so far shes cost $381.00
Mate good start hay, $300 car, perfect for bashing it in the bush, let her get used to 4WDing in her own car, it don't matter if you ding it or that, it will let her get a feel for the stuff, then she can upgrade to a real 4WD like a Patrol
